Shake It Up

Shake it up!
The band is jamming
Everyone’s dancing
Friends are coming by to play.
Guitars ringing,
Everybody’s singing
It’s another beautiful day.
So Shake it Up! Don’t just sit there!
Shake it Up - have some fun
Shake it Up! - so much to share
Come on everyone…
Shake it Up!
Planet turning
always learning
That’s what it’s all about
Everybody moving
Keep on grooving
Come on let me hear you shout
Shake it up….
there’s no limit to the cool things we can do
Put our heads together, find a new way to the Moon!
Cause when you color outside the lines
You’ll find a brand new design…
You’ll see the whole world in a different light (that’s right)

Happy Place

Happy Place
Woke up fell out of my bed, yeah
Can’t find a thing to wear
and it looks like I’m gonna be late for school again.
Mom’s yelling, dog is barking
Eggs are cold and it’s going too far when
I have to wait for the bus in the rain.
We all need to find our way.
Somewhere where we can all feel safe.
I’m going to my Happy Place
Where everything’s okay
It’s a sunny day
I’m in my Happy Place.
We’re playing some favorite game when
You start callin’ me names and
I thought we were best of friends.
Fall hard on the playground
Scrape my knee, sinking way down
How much longer before this day ends?
And I’m in my Happy Place.
No one can touch me.
I’ve got everything I need.
Reach out and hit somebody
But I can’t cause that would be naughty.
So I keep it inside—someone tell me a joke!

Staue of Me

Statue Of Me
If there was a statue of me
I wonder what the reason would be.
Did I discover a faraway world
Where money really grew on trees?
Did they make a statue of me
for inventing something everyone needs?
A funky food making machine
Or ways to clean the air we breathe.
All I imagine and all I do I never know what will be.
But I’m starting to think it might true
No one else is just like me.
When they make a statue of me
Hope it’s cause I helped people see
The magic of the starry skies
or mysteries of the deep blue sea.
All I imagine and all I do I never know what will be.
But I’m starting to think it might true
No one else is just like me.
Presidents and poets, writers and movie stars
Scientists, archeologists help us know who we are.
If there was a Statue of Me
I wonder what the reason would be.
Maybe just for making you smile
With my happy little melodies.

You Did It!
02:22
|

You Did It!
I know you wanna play with me, watch a movie on TV, or maybe just hang around.A
But there’s so much to do staring back at me and you before we can even sit down.
Toys all over the stairs
Clothes scattered everywhere
Can’t find your bedroom floor
Careful walking through your door
I know you think it’s all doom and gloom (yeah you’re thinking! You’re really thinking!)
& you’re hoping, oh you’re hoping, yeah you’re hoping it’s over soon.
But then
You Did It!
You Did It!
You Did It! Yeah!
You Did It!
You Did It!
You Did It! Yeah!
You Did It!
You Did It!
You Did It! Yeah!
I gotta say I think you’re great.
Now, I know you really wanna shine when it’s recital time
Wanna be the best in the show.
And there’s that great big race where you wanna win first place--
It all takes work you know.
Practice every day
But you can’t seem to find the way.
You know it’s happened before-
You just gotta give it more.

Enemies

ENEMIES
Looking out the window, see the sun has brought a brand new day
& All I keep wondrin’ is when you comin’ out to play?
Then I remember yesterday, how it was such a mess
Threw my crayons away, made me rip my dress.
My best friend
I think we’ll always be
Such good friends
You mean the world to me
But there times… I think we’re enemies.
I can’t wait to show you the fort I built behind our school
And play you that new song I wrote, I know you’re gonna think it’s cool.
But all you wanna do is race me to edge of town
Step on all my toes, and boss me around.
My best friend
I think we’ll always be
Such good friends
You mean the world to me.
But there are times…times…times
Bridge
Times you drive me crazy--such a pain in my neck
Calling me names when I’m just trying my best.
Why you always telling me what we should do?
Things are always changin’, but this remains true…
Time is a-wasting, sun is comin’ down the other side
I’ve counted past ten and you haven’t even tried to hide.
You’ll say white is black and I’ll say black is white
But everything’s okay even if we don’t see eye-to-eye.

When I'm Old
02:44
|

When I’m Old
Nothing much impresses me lately.
I guess it’s true I know a lot of things.
But there seems to be one great big exception
inspiring this new song I sing.
I feel it when we’re sitting here together
Just playing games or reading an old book.
Even if we’re just talking ‘bout the weather
Grandma you give old age a new look.
When I’m Old I’ll be looking back and smiling
When I’m Old I won’t worry what the time is.
When I’m Old I’ll be feeling good as new
When I’m Old I wanna be just like you…
Now we don’t look exactly the same
Your skin is kinda wrinkly—mine is smooth.
But I think you’ve got a slightly bigger brain
Filled with information I could use.
And oh, to have done so much living—
So much taking and giving.
To have traveled the world over so many years,
Dancing and twirling through laughter and tears.
I want that satisfied feeling…

I Want It

|

I Want It
I want a princess Barbie but I don’t really want a Ken.
I want a pair of hi-top sneakers to go with my other ten.
I want five scoops of ice cream, piled up so high
whipped cream and a cherry, yeah, that’ll keep me satisfied
I want it all,
I want it now,
I Want It.
I want another video game but not a new TV,
I only watch one at a time and we already have three.
I want fast food, super-size it, big is better and so
I never really finish things and away it goes.
I want it all,
I want it now.
I Want It-don’t need it.
I Want It-don’t need it.
I Want It-don’t need it…
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it!
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it now!
I want another box of crayons, no good if they’re cracked
I want a new action figure, one that says “attack!”
I want beads and bangles and bracelets, sparkly earrings, too
Necklaces and fancy things that jingle when I move.
I want it all…
I want it now…
I Want It—don’t need it.
I Want It-don’t need it.
I Want It-don’t need it…
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it!
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it now!
But all I want isn’t all I need
I don’t need a room full of things.
I just need home, good books to read
The wind in my hair, a kiss on my cheek.
That’s all I really need.
I want it, don’t need it…
I want it, don’t need it…
I want it, don’t need it.
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it!
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it!
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme it now!

Travel Far

Travel Far
I…I…I just wanna see the world, yeah
I just wanna Travel Far, yeah
Put me on a train or plane or real fast car…
I…I..I just wanna know our world
I wanna learn who we are, yeah
There’s so much to see, oh, come along with me…
We could take a plane to Paris
Walk along ChampsEl-lisee…whatdya say?
Climb up in the Eiffel Tower and then eat in a café---we’ll order crepes
And when the stars come out at night
Paris will be all alight, full of beauty and romance
We can sing and dance…so very elegant.
We’ll ride elephants in Africa,
cross Serengeti plain…it never rains
climb up Mt. Kilamanjaro with the clouds beneath our feet
that would be neat.
Lions roar as we explore
Knocking on adventure’s door, we can learn the native songs
So much history…it’s where we all began.
And when we’ve seen all there is to see
I hope you come with me and rest beneath a favorite tree.

RECIPE
My stomach’s rumbling like thunder on a rainy night
I’m not thinking straight—you know I don’t feel right.
I need something sweet to eat but not the same old thing…
I need a Recipe (something new!)
I need a Recipe (something good!)
Make something I’ve never had before
Share it with friends coming through my door
I need a Recipe…mmmm
a Recipe...
So many possibilities, kinda like this perfect day.
Gonna mix my favorite things in just the right way.
Chocolate and blueberries and a little sweet whipped cream...
I need a Recipe (something new!)
I need a Recipe (something good!)
Something I can call my own creation
A delicious dish that’ll sweep the nation!
Little bit of this, little bit of that
Little bit of this, little bit of that
Rodney’s rap:
“What’s up kids…grab yourself a bowl
We’re gonna bring it on down with a whole lotta soul.
Flour, salt, sugar, baby, now we’re on a roll.
Gonna make a big mess,
Gonna get some on the floor.
Granny Smith apples-they are so good for you.
Have your dad peel and slice ‘em in a bowl for two.
Brown sugar, pinch of cinnamon and some butter, too.
Mix it up, elbows deeps, flip it through and through.
Have your mom turn up the oven to 350 degrees and, shazam!
Put my pie in the oven if you please.
Making something I’ve never had before
Share it with friends coming through my door
A little bit of this, a little bit of that
I need a Recipe…mmmm
a Recipe...

Dance In the Sun

Dance in the Sun
Building sand castles
Swimming in the ocean
I’m in paradise, yeah there’s no place I’d rather be.
Having big adventures
Bodies in motion
So much to do, so many possibilities
And we’ll have fun all summer long
Playing with friends and singing songs
Hey, hey, hey let’s dance in the sun
There’s something here for everyone.
Hey, hey, hey the party’s just begun
In this village of happiness and fun.
Making new friends
From the world over
I learn from you and you learn from me.
Many languages…
Many cultures
Everybody’s feeling like we’re one big family.
And we’ll have fun all summer long
Playing with friends and singing songs
Hey, hey, hey let’s dance in the sun
There’s something here for everyone.
Hey, hey, hey the party’s just begun
In this village of happiness and fun.
Everywhere I see
Faces smile at me
Warm as the bright summer sun.

I Love You
I Love You.
I Love You.
I don’t know much, but that much is true.
I Love You in the morning
When the Sun’s on the rise.
Birds start singing as you open your eyes.
I Love You through the daytime
You laugh and sing
And when you smile it’s the sweetest thing.
I Love You in the evening
As you’re falling asleep
A bedtime story, a kiss on your cheek.
I Love You.
I Love You.
I don’t know much, but that much is true.

Great Day

Great Day
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day…
Sun is shining, sky is blue,
I’m so happy and I love you
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day.
Got a song I can’t stop singing
like those birds up in the trees.
Don’t know what time is bringing
But right now I’m happy as can be.
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day…
Sun is shining, sky is blue
I’m so happy and I love you
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day
It’s a Great Day.
Skipping down the sidewalk smiling
Don’t know what new friends I’ll meet.
When I do we’ll play a while and
make a pocketful of memories.
